The CompTIA A+ training program covers two modules of training; you're seen as an achiever in A+ when you've achieved certifications for both of them. As well as being taught how to build and fix computers, students on an A+ training course will be taught how to operate in antistatic conditions, how to fault find, to diagnose and to remotely access problems. Should you want to work towards being responsible for networks of computers, you'll need to add Network+ to your training package. This will mean you can command a more senior job role. Alternatively, you may prefer the Microsoft networking qualifications (MCP, MCSA and MCSE).

Quite often, students have issues with one aspect of their training usually not even thought about: The way the training is divided into chunks and physically delivered to you. Normally, you'll enrol on a course requiring 1-3 years study and receive a module at a time. This sounds logical on one level, until you consider this: How would they react if you didn't complete everything at the proposed pace? Often the prescribed exam order won't be as easy as some other order of studying might.

To provide the maximum security and flexibility, it's normal for most trainees to request that all their modules (now paid for) are sent immediately, and not in a piecemeal fashion. It's then your own choice at what speed and in which order you want to finish things.

Review the facts below and pay great regard to them if you think the sales ploy of 'guaranteeing' exams sounds like a benefit to the student:

Thankfully, today we are a tad more knowledgeable about sales gimmicks - and most of us cotton on to the fact that it is actually an additional cost to us (it's not a freebie because they like us so much!) If you want to pass first time, then the most successful route is to pay for one exam at a time, give it the priority it deserves and apply yourself as required.

Why should you pay the training course provider at the start of the course for exams? Hold on to your money and pay for the exam at the appropriate time, instead of paying a premium - and do it locally - not at somewhere of their bidding. Many so-called credible training course providers net big margins because they're getting paid for examinations upfront and hoping you won't see them all through. The majority of organisations will require you to do mock exams and not allow you to re-take an exam until you've demonstrated an excellent ability to pass - which makes an 'Exam Guarantee' frankly useless.

Exams taken at local centres are currently clocking in at an average of 112 pounds in Great Britain. Why pay exorbitant 'Exam Guarantee' costs (often hidden in the cost) - when the best course materials, the right level of support and commitment, effort and practice with quality exam preparation systems are the factors that really get you through.

Be on the lookout that any certifications that you're considering will be commercially viable and are current. 'In-house' certificates are usually worthless. Only properly recognised qualifications from companies such as Microsoft, Adobe, Cisco and CompTIA will open the doors to employers.
